Charles McArthur Destler early academic papers, 1929-1943.

The collection consists of pohtocopies of papers realting to the early academic career of Dr. Chester McArthur Destler (1904-1984), especially his tenure as Head of Social Sciences at South Georgia Teachers College (later, Georgia Teachers College), 1934-1941. Includes correspondence with President Marvin Pittman and R.J.H. De Loach. The Georgia University System Crisis of 1941, provoked by Gov. Eugene Talmadge, in which both Pittman and Destler lost their positions, is fully documented.
